How To Write an SEO-Friendly Blog Post for a Small Business

What makes a blog post “SEO-friendly”? Is it always about writing keywords in an obtrusive manner to rank for the keyword in search engines? Should you write full posts with nothing but keywords? Well, that’s not my definition of SEO friendly.

If there are only single words that makes the meaning of the content unclear, I would rather spend time refining it.

The easier it is to write an SEO-friendly post, the better ROI you will see from every page/post on your site. This article provides some tips on how to write SEO-friendly blog posts, in my opinion.

So, without any further ado, let’s dive into it.

What is SEO friendly content

SEO-friendly writing is the way to go for modern bloggers. And since you are reading this, you need it more than anyone. You might have heard that you need good SEO copy to rank well on search engines, but what exactly does this mean?

Generally speaking, it means that your post should have features that help content rank better in Google.

SEO friendly content is a great way to rank a website. When a search engine picks up your content, it has to read everything. If the content is comprehensible to humans, it helps improve SEO ranking.

SEO friendly content is the type of content that naturally lends itself to search engine optimization. This content can be easily optimized for search engines, resulting in increased traffic from the major search engines.

Ok now let’s see steps to write a SEO friendly blog post.

1. Before You Begin, Conduct Keyword Research.

Keyword research is important to any online business because it defines the direction of your SEO campaigns. It identifies the topics for articles, guides & blog posts.

The right keyword research is crucial for effective SEO. In fact, it can be difficult to have a successful SEO campaign without proper keyword research.

List your essential keywords first, and then look for long tail keywords that are related to them.

2. Before You Start Writing, Consider the Message You Want to Send Through Your Blog Article

Before you begin writing, consider the message you want your readers to take away from your blog article. What is the most important question? What is the problem you’re attempting to address with your blog post? What is the objective of this blog article, and who should it be valuable to? What are the benefits you’re offering? Make a list of everything that comes to mind.

Understand the search intent of the searches and frame the blog article accordingly.

3. Create an outline of your blog post

To produce an SEO-friendly blog post, you must first build a readable blog post structure. The following points should be included in a readable structure:

  • Your blog article should start with an introductory paragraph that explains what the post is about, what pain point you’re discussing, and how you’re going to solve it.
  • A well-structured body that takes use of HTML tags, photos, citations if needed, and graphical representations to make it more understandable. And, of course, interesting.
  • You should have a proper summary at the end, when you will wrap up the issue and draw a clear core message from it.

4. Use proper paragraphs, heading, images & other HTML tags.

When it comes to writing the content, make sure you use suitable HTML tags. Use a paragraph tag when inserting a paragraph. Use appropriate header tags such as <H1> <h2> and <h3>

If you’re presenting an image, ensure sure the alt attribute is used. Similarly, if you’re using another media format, ensure to use the proper format.

5. Throughout your content, make sure to use transition words

Transition words, or bridge keywords, are key to smooth transitions from one paragraph or sentence to the next.

They make it easier for the reader to follow along while reading your writing.

They show the relationship between ideas, or in simple terms they say HOW you are going to write something. Transition words carry the message in a sentence, for instance, without transitions sentences sound dull and one thought follows another with no tie in between them.

6. Make sure you are using long tail keywords in your article.

As a marketer or small business, you would always want to expand the traffic to your website or blog. And this can be easily done by focusing on long tail keywords.

But what is a long tail keyword? The term ‘long tail’, as used in online search marketing, refers to a search phrase consisting of 3 or more words.

Long tail search terms typically have lower competition as compared to broad or short tail search terms.

Why Makes Long-Tail Keywords Valuable?

  • These keywords are generally having low competition and are very specific.
  • Long tail keywords provide better conversion rate because searchers are clear in their intention about the search.
  • Long tail keywords Increases the chance of your ranking.

7. Make sure your article is the appropriate length

There is no hard and fast rule regarding how long your post should be, but it should be at least 300 words long, if not more, depending on the topic.

You must ensure that you cover all aspects of your topic and provide a coherent message. The length of an article is only a minor consideration when it comes to content quality.

Because I want to describe the topic a little more, I usually maintain my articles at 500 words or more.

8. Link to your existing content

Internal links are an important part of any SEO plan. Internal linking, in a nutshell, refers to an SEO’s efforts to improve a website’s navigation.

By properly designing a website’s architecture through internal linking, you may improve the overall user experience, which is an important aspect in SEO.

The use of internal anchor text and link structure to properly structure a website has various advantages.

Why should you focus on internal linking?

  • Internal linking makes it simple for readers to navigate websites.
  • Internal linking aids in the development of your website’s architecture
  • It helps in the distribution of link equity across your website.
  • It keeps your website’s visitors interested
  • Internal linking makes it easier for Google to crawl your site.
  • It allows you to back up a point you’re making.
  • It’s possible to use it to drive traffic to older posts.

9. Allow others to read the post before publishing it.

It’s usually a good idea to have your content read by others before putting it out there.

It will provide you the opportunity to make changes to your material and make it more user-friendly.

Just be careful not to show it to too many people and request a review.

In a nutshell

SEO friendly content is a topic that’s been discussed a lot in the past few years. It’s a great idea to do SEO friendly content, but what exactly is it? Many people think about “hidden” tricks or technical stuff that makes content optimized for search engines.

That’s not what we mean. The truth is, Google doesn’t want this from you. If you create truly unique and engaging content that your audience truly loves, then you will already be doing SEO friendly content.

When talking about SEO friendly content, people often confuse it with SEO optimized content. In reality, however, it is very different from the latter.

The reason why many people do this mistake is that they have read pages from other sites saying that you need to optimize your content for search engines.

SEO friendly content is written around keywords and the topic of the article. This keeps the reader interested as they find more relevant information than they originally started out looking for.
